Road Rage Is Making Me Give Away a $305.00 Watch

This time we have a very unique watch giveaway with a unique contest.

I had such a blast doing a video interview today on intimacy and authentic relationships. Video to come out soon.

One of the things we talked about was the importance of taking the time to do the little things in our relationships. That is easier said then done.

We live in such a fast faced world that we keep telling ourselves, “I will take the time tomorrow – she will understand – there will be another soccer game my kid will play in…”

Just recently I was driving during rush hour, if you can even call it that in Kelowna. I stopped to let a Van make a left turn and the car behind me sped over to my right, gave me the finger and drove off.

Wow! – Here I am taking 5 sec. to do a good deed and he was reminding me of what this world is turning into.

I caught up and pulled up beside him to ask, very nicely, why he would give me the finger. He says “I want to get home” and takes off into traffic.

Even his wife had a disappointing look on her face.

Based on that experience, this is what I would like to do.

Cross has donated this beautiful unisex watch valued at $305.00 US for the following contest.

Everyone of the below gets you a ballot to win.

1. Become a fan of my facebook page:

www.facebook.com/fredsarkari

-

2. Make a post on your facebook page starting with:

@fredsarkari – the good deed of my day is……..

(you get a ballot for everytime you post one – limit one ballot a day)

-

3. Every time you post a comment on any of my blog posts:

www.MentalSidewalk.com

(limit one ballot a day)

We will draw for the watch on August 7th.

If the person that wins will be in any of the cities I will be traveling to – I will personally buy them lunch when I give them the watch.

Lets all go out there and start putting more importance on the “little good deeds” that we can do everyday.

Together the ripple can cause an amazing tidal wave.

Good luck everyone.

Hi Fred, I love this idea! I try to do as many good deeds a day as I can. Do I post as my facebook status “@fredsarkari – the good deed of my day is buying our secretaries at the office a box of Timbits”? Or do we do this on your blog page?

    • fredsarkari says:

Hi Sheryl, glad you like the idea. You post it on your facebook wall.

Good for you for taking care of your staff

  2. Deanne says:

That’s exciting Fred! What a great way to spread love and caring :) looking forward to hearing everyone’s amazing “pay it forward” stories

  3. eyegandhi says:

nice, I am sorry about that experience. He was probably from Alberta.

    • fredsarkari says:

ha ha – that is funny.

    • Bob says:

I’m sorry to hear you say that…if it were not for The Alberta people coming to BC our economy would suffer…I guess that’s why Albertans are not feeling welcomed in this province and choosing to spend their money where they do feel welcomed

      • fredsarkari says:

Bob, sorry – Should have explained that he is making fun of me as I lived in Alberta for a while.

Looking forward to reading your good deed of the day.

Thanks and have a great day

      • eyegandhi says:

Bob, I am sorry I was just giving Fred a hard time. I do that because he is my amigo. Many of my great friends and relatives are Albertans. They do get a bad wrap in Kelowna driving wise because there is such an influx of AB people in the summer time, and they do not know the city which results in close calls and driving jokes. Anyway, I was just bugging the mighty Fred. Sorry to offend.

  4. eyegandhi says:

    Just kidding (kinda) Albertans

  5. peter takeda says:

hmmm. i don’t think you’d want to confront someone like that in Toronto. Chances are they’d pull out a gun or run you off the road. Its not worth it.

    • fredsarkari says:

Peter, that is true – I did spend most of my life in Toronto. Honestly, not something recommended anywhere as you have no idea what psycho it could be. :)

  6. Riotm says:

Great to bring the ‘little deeds’ to our minds. Life is so fastpaced at times I agree that we need to slow down for these moments. And sorry for giving you the finger… (just kidding, who are these people?!?!)

    • fredsarkari says:

Kelowna is such a small town – what would make my day is if this email got to that person and he would actually be a man enough to apologize.

We all have our moments – that is not the issue. It is what we do about it after the fact that matters more.

  7. Derryanne says:

    Hey Fred,
What a great story and a fabulous contest idea. The story really made me think about the number of times we could make a difference in the world if we all watch fro opportunities. My eyes are open!

  8. Akeel says:

What a way to remind us of taking time to do the little things that matter.

  9. Daryl Zadir says:

You are awesome amigo. Now get outta my way. I need to get me a Booster Juice!!!

  10. Mike says:

Only you Fred can turn a crappy event into a 300 dollar watch!

I am sure this guys wife gave him a good talking too when they got home.

  11. Aubrey says:

Great contest Fred. It is a little surprising how people (even myself at times) can be in such a rush that they actually can’t see a good deed that is occurring right in front of them.

I wish we could return to a much simpler time when we all weren’t in such a hurry.

  12. Cecilia says:

Perhaps you should just give the fellow the watch and next time he will leave earlier to get to his destination and save a life.

    • fredsarkari says:

ha ha – He was just having one of those days that we all do at times. :)

So what is your good deed of the day?

  13. eyegandhi says:

My good deed of the day was apologizing to Bob for my Alberta jokes : )

  14. Taylor says:

Love that you are promoting kindness! Taking a small part of each day and devoting it to the people around you can alter your life, as well as theirs! Beautiful watch, would love to win! Every time I would look down and see it, I would remember that kindness is so important to exude!

    • fredsarkari says:

Taylor, like the way you put it – “promoting Kindness”

Looking forward to reading your good deed of the day on facebook. We will draw for the watch very soon.

      Thanks

  15. Derryanne says:

    Hi again,
A new week, a new chance to elevate my life and the world in general. Today I shopped at Vernon’s farmer’s market and supported local crops and farmers. It felt good and looked and tasted fabulous when I made a wonderful salad with Okanagan fruit for dessert!

  16. Sheryl Harras says:

I helped an elderly couple find what floor they were looking for today. I also bought my director and my mom and dad lunch.

  17. Mads says:

    Hi Fred.

Nice way you again turn little events in life into something useful.

This is a great competition in the way it spread out into the real world and not just touch the people reading here.

Now that I am back from vacation – had a great time in DK at my dads place – I am starting my new year of coaching and business.
I will think how good deeds can be a bigger part of my life.

Today: I got out of bed early when the little one didnt want to sleep anymore so his mom could get some more sleep even though she promised me yesterday she would do it today.

  18. Mads says:

    Hi Fred

    Good deed of the day.

Actually realized what I did until afterwards.

Was walking by the gas station across the street and saw a couple trying to make the paid vacuum cleaner work (you need some special coins you can only buy in opening hours and there was closed now.)

I told them that there is another gas station around the corner where using the vacuum cleaner is even free.
They gave me big smiles and I realized I just made their day better :)

  19. fred sarkari says:

That is awesome. A beautiful habit to create.

They are doing the draw tonight at midnight. Will Let me know who wins the watch first thing in the morning. :)
